There has been a lot of speculation as to who Fabio Capello is going to take to South Africa with him and bookmakers have re thought there odds for which players will be heading out to represent our country.
Most people can probably name eight or nine of England’s starting team at the World Cup, injuries permitting, but there’s all to play for on who else might be on board the plane to South Africa. From looking at what they have to offer it seems that Emile Heskey has almost definitely secured a place in the team, despite his current position with club Aston Villa. He looks a safe bet with bookies offering 1/3 that he will make the team, alongside Peter Crouch who plays for Spurs priced at 2/1 to make the team.
A few new possible names that are being discussed are Jack Rodwell who currently plays for Everton backed at 11/1 and Kieron Richardson priced at slightly longer odds of 14/1. Other odds include Joe Cole from Chelsea at 8/11, Foster from Manchester United at 8/15 and David Beckham priced at 1/2.
It seems that there are only going to be three or so games before Capello confirms his squad line up, so all players need to go out of their way to impress the manager to fight for their seat on the plane. 23 players are going to be taken to the World Cup so there is still room for some less likely players to shine through and gain a ticket!
